Pitch Description (Full Pitch)

A Hair Universe is a comedic yet educational group of learning tools that includes an animated series and books about the exploits of Terminal Hairy and his Universe. This world under the skin will portray how electrolysis works and how the integumentary and other bodily systems interact to promote or repel hair growth in the human body. It has an overall upbeat and cheerful tone, but speaks to the topics of forgiveness, self identity, family drama, friendship, gender, and above all permanent hair removal.
 

THE HAIR HISTORY

It is believed that the concept of “no hair on the body” began in Egypt with Ramses III. He wanted his harem’s hair removed on the body with a focus on the armpits. In Rome, the men loved hairless legs. They used various techniques to remove hair from the eyebrows including the blood of bats and the use of resin.

Dr. Charles E. Michel was an American Opthamologist from St. Louis, MO who in 1875 published the results of an experiment with galvanic current (DC) into the follicle of eyelashes. This electricity produced a physio-chemical reaction at the root of the hair and destroyed the cells that cause hair growth and Electrolysis was born. There has been many advances since that great day and understanding the hair and how it interacts in the body is key to the success of a Licensed Electrologist.
 

THE HAIR UNIVERSE MAP CREATION

Our project is based on the integumentary system--with a special focus on HAIR and how it interacts in the body? Our whole universe with lands, regions, neighborhoods, etc. is made up of one small area of the human skin (see Diagram 1 below). This is where our hair universe resides and goes about their daily life of a hair.

• It should have a sky with a sun, clouds, stars, moon, other planets, and weather changes (i.e.: sun, rain, snow, tornadoes, tsunamis, hail, wind, etc.), which should all be made from the items listed in the Diagram 1 below.
• The general atmosphere should have the land, trees, plants, roads, mountains, hills, valleys, ponds, oceans, volcanoes, etc., which all should be made from the items listed in the Diagram 1 below.
• Finally, the underground.
  There should be an Anagen City which is the new growth area where all these hairs are living and connected to the land. Then there should be a Catagen Land where all living beings can go about their daily lives not connected to the land. Finally, the Telogen Land or (cemetery) is where the hairs meet their natural demise.
• The universe has to make medicinal sense in that--even though the hairs and other characters are running around doing what they want or naturally do in the body…it still has to abide by some common rules that the skin/body itself mandates.
• Sweat Glands could be the Trees.
• Veins and Arteries could possibly be the Streets.
  Epidermis could be the SKY, Dermis could be the ATMOSPHERE, and the Hypodermis could be ground and below area of the universe.
