Our Mission
A Hair Universe’s mission is to provide media that will teach all about Electrolysis and how hair on humans grow and interact with the other parts of the integumentary system in a fun and exciting way. Our mission initiated from a deficit in written books and online learning tools on understanding how Electrolysis permanent hair removal works. Our unique model of combining books and digital media will surely propel us into today's social media market and e-learning world and make electrolysis an easily recognizable household name.
What Is Electrolysis?
Electrolysis is a permanent hair removal treatment used by educated, trained, and licensed electrologists. An electric current is inserted into the hair follicle and travels through the probe into the base of the follicle to destroy the cells that cause hair growth. A licensed electrologist will administer the treatment on any skin type, skin color, hair type, and hair color. In addition, electrolysis is the only solution to permanently remove white hair and gray hair. It is suitable for any area of the body including the eyebrows and genitals.
Pitch
Our comedic yet educational collection of learning tools, which includes an animated series and books about the exploits of Terminal Hairy and his Universe. This world under the skin will portray how eletrolysis works and how the integumentary and other bodily systems interact to promote or repel hair growth in the human body. It has an overall upbeat and cheerful tone, but speaks to the topics of forgiveness, self identity, family drama, friendship, gender, and above all permanent hair removal.
THE HAIR HISTORY
It is believed that the concept of “no hair on the body” began in Egypt with Ramses III. He wanted his harem’s hair removed on the body with a focus on the armpits. In Rome, the men loved hairless legs. They used various techniques to remove hair from the eyebrows including the blood of bats and the use of resin.
Dr. Charles E. Michel was an American Opthamologist from St. Louis, MO who in 1875 published the results of an experiment with galvanic current (DC) into the follicle of eyelashes. This electricity produced a physio-chemical reaction at the root of the hair and destroyed the cells that cause hair growth and Electrolysis was born. There has been many advances since that great day and understanding the hair and how it interacts in the body is key to the success of a Licensed Electrologist.
A Hair Universe (AHU) was designed specifically to bring a clear understanding of how Electrolysis works and how hair functions in the body.
